KAMPUNG PERAWAN TUA

Aku lahir dan menetap di sebuah kota kecil dalam wilayah Propinsi Jawa Timur. Lokasi kampungku sebenamya cukup strategis karena dekat dengan pusat kota (alun-alun). Namun, lokasi strategis ini tidak memberi jaminan penduduknya dapat hidup tenang dan nyaman. Seolah ada sebuah misteri yang melingkupi penduduk sekitarnya.

Saat ini usiaku menjelang 35 tahun, tapi hingga kini aku masih berstatus lajang. Pendidikan terakhirku sarjana dan pernah bekerja sebagai karyawati di sebuah perusahaan kontraktor. Tapi sejak krisis ekonomi menghantam negeri ini tahun 1998, membuat perusahaan tempatku bekerja gulung tikar. Kini aku membuka usaha sendiri sekadar memenuhi kebutuhan keluargaku.

Mengapa sampai saat ini aku masih sendiri dan belum menikah? Entahlah. Apakah ini sudah suratan takdir Tuhan, atau ada sebab Iain? Jujur saja, aku sendiri tidak tahu pasti. Padahal, aku sudah mengenal pacaran sejak duduk di bangku SLTP. Ketika itu pacarku teman sekolah. Namun hubungan kami putus saat di SLTA.

Aku punya pacar lagi saat kuliah. Tapi entah mengapa, hubungan ini juga tidak langgeng. Kalau dihitung, sejak kuliah sampai lulus dan bekerja, aku sudah berganti pacar sebanyak tiga kali. Kenapa aku sampai berganti-ganti pacar dan tidak pernah ada yang serius untuk meningkat ke jenjang pernikahan? Aku sendiri juga tidak tahu. Sekarang ini disaat usiaku yang sudah berkepala tiga, ada sesuatu yang membuat hatiku selalu risau dan gelisah. Aku merasa risau bukan hanya dengan status Iajang yang ku sandang, tetapi karena aku juga hidup di sebuah kampung yang memiliki banyak gadis seusiaku yang belum menikah. Bahkan ada yang lebih tua dariku. Karena itulah, kampungku sering dijuluki kampung perawan tua.

Sungguh, di kampungku ini banyak sekali perawan tua. Contohnya, dalam satu rumah saja, pasti ada satu atau dua orang anggota keluarganya yang menjadi perawan tua. Tetapi yang membuatku tidak habis mengerti, apabila dalam satu rumah itu tidak ada yang berstatus perawan tua, pasti ada salah seorang anggota keluarganya yang mengalami cacat, bisa cacat fisik atau cacat mental.

Kalau dilihat dari posisinya, rumahku terletak di sebelah utara kampung. Beruntungnya, deretan sebelah utara ini sampai sekarang belum ada yang menjadi perawan abadi (sampai meninggal tidak menikah). Meskipun di sekitar rumahku banyak wanita yang usianya sudah mendekati kepala empat dan belum menikah.

Sedangkan deretan sebelah selatan kampung, masih ada wanita yang sudah berusia tua atau sudah seperti nenek-nenek tapi belum menikah. Bahkan sampai meninggal tetap menyandang status Iajang. Menurut cerita yang pernah ku dengar, begitu banyaknya wanita yang terlambat menikah atau ada anggota keluarga yang cacat disebabkan kutukan danyang kampung atau ada suatu kekuatan gaib yang menghuni kampung ini.

Entahlah, kebenaran cerita itu. Aku tidak tahu secara pasti, karena aku memang tidak paham dunia gaib. Akan tetapi, kalau toh cerita itu benar yaitu akibat kutukan danyang kampung, mengapa hal itu harus terjadi? Mengapa danyang kampung itu mengutuk penduduk desa dengan cara seperti itu? Apakah sebelumnya leluhur kampung pernah berbuat suatu kesalahan yang berakibat keturunannya dikutuk? Semua yang pernah kutanya mengenai hal ini, tidak ada yang tahu jawabannya.

Diantara teman-temanku yang mengaIami nasib seperti ini memiliki sikap berbeda. Ada yang pasrah menghadapi kenyataan, dan ada pula yang terus berupaya minta bantuan paranormal.

Sikap orang tuaku sendiri termasuk yang tidak mau pasrah begitu saja. Dengan kata lain, orang tuaku berupaya agar aku segera mendapat jodoh. Berbagai cara dilakukan. Mulai dari ruwatan, diberi jimat, mandi kembang dengan wewangian tertentu dan sebagainya, tapi hasilnya tetap nihil. Waktu terus berjalan cepat, sementara statusku masih tetap dalam kesendirian.

Suatu ketika, ayahku pernah minta sedikit potongan rambutku yang kemudian ditanyakan ke “orang pintar” yang bernama Kyai Pamungkas di Jombang. Menurut ayah, Kyai Pamungkas itu meletakkan potongan rambutku di lantai dan dibacakan foa-doan dan mantra-mantra. Tiba-tiba saja, potongan rambut itu menyala dan mengeluarkan api. Terbakar dengan sendirinya. Dengan mata kepalanya sendiri, ayahku menyaksikan peristiwa aneh tersebut hingga membuatnya hampir pingsan.

Masih menurut ayahku, Kyai Pamungkas kemudian mengatakan bahwa ada penghalang gaib di dalam diriku. Tetapi siapa penghalang gaib itu tidak jelas, karena patanornal itu tidak mengatakannya. Selanjutnya, ayahku diberi sebuah benda untuk ditanam di depan rumah. Mungkinkah penghalang itu danyang kampung? Entahlah.

Namun aku tidak yakin kalau ada penghalang dari pihak lain. Aku merasa tidak punya musuh dan tidak pernah berbuat semena-mena pada orang Iain.

Pernah suatu kali aku berupaya sendiri mendatangi paranormal di daerah Blitar. Tetapi, ia malah berkata: “Wong, punya wajah cantik kok jodohnya sulit. ltu kan aneh. Mungkin kamu orangnya cerewet dan terlalu pilih-pilih.” Mendengar kata-kata itu, aku kesal dan sakit hati. Aku datang untuk minta tolong, dia malah mengejek. Sungguh, aku merasa tidak pernah pilih-pilih. Sebagai manusia biasa, aku sadar betul punya kekurangan dan kelebihan. Namanya juga manusia, tidak ada yang sempurna.

Di waktu senggang, aku sering berbagi pengalaman dengan teman sekampung yang senasib dan usianya sebaya denganku. Kami berbicara seputar kisah asmara. Anehnya, semua punya kisah sama yaitu tidak pernah langgeng dalam menjalin hubungan dengan pria. Sang pria selalu membuat ulah yang membuat hubungan tidak berlanjut ke pelaminan.

Boleh dibilang, kutukan danyang kampung ini termasuk kuat. Betapa tidak, meski berpindah tempat tinggal, pengaruh danyang tetap melekat. Ambil contoh, kisah dua orang tetanggaku. Seorang usianya sebaya dan yang lain lebih tua dariku.

Mereka penduduk asli di kampung, tapi sudah puluhan tahun merantau dan bekerja di kota Iain yang cukup jauh (bahkan di luar provinsi). Namun, mereka tetap belum menikah. Ketika pulang kampung, aku pernah bertanya seputar kisah asmaranya. Ternyata pengalaman mereka sama, punya kekasih tetapi tidak pernah serius. Sungguh betapa kuatnya kutukan danyang

Terkadang aku berpikir bahwa mungkin penampilan gadis di kampungku kurang menarik perhatian kaum lelaki. Tetapi kalau melihat teman-temanku yang merantau ke kota lain cenderung penampilannya berubah, bahkan terkesan sudah mengikuti gaya hidup orang kota. Model pakaian, rambut dan parfum sudah tergolong berkelas. Tetapi anehnya mereka tetap saja gagal membawa pria ke pelaminan. Meskipun dalam membina hubungan sudah melewati batas, tetap saja tidak membuat lelaki mau mensahkannya di KUA.

Uniknya lagi, ini yang membuatku tidak mengerti, kutukan danyang kampung tidak berlaku bagi pendatang. Terbukti beberapa tetanggaku yang bukan penduduk asli, ternyata tidak ada anggota keluarganya yang terlambat menikah atau mengalami cacat. Bahkan gadis-gadisnya ada yang menikah di usia masih sangat muda. seperti usia 17 tahun. Begitulah cara berpikir orang di kampungku. Orangtua yang merasa anak gadisnya sudah mengenal pacaran biasanya langsung dinikahkan. meskipun anak gadisnya masih sekolah. Sebenarnya sikap seperti itu tidak bijaksana. Bagaimanapun anak itu masih ingin sekolah, namun biasanya orangtuanya beralasan agar tidak terjadi sesuatu yang membuat kehomatannya tercoreng.

Sungguh beruntung gadis-gadis itu. Mereka tidak terkena kutukan danyang kampung dan dapat membina mahligai perkawinan di usia muda. Pada saat usianya sudah seperti usiaku, tentu mereka sudah punya 3 atau 4 anak. Alangkah bahagianya mengasuh anak sebanyak itu.

Namun demikian, nasib yang ku alami bersama teman sekampung, kami hadapi dengan pasrah, sabar dan tawakkal. Setiap hari kami berdoa kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Pemurah, agar suatu saat kami bisa menemukan jodoh yang cocok. Bagaimanapun juga, kami ingin hidup seperti wanita normal yaitu menjadi isteri, mengandung, melahirkan dan menjadi ibu yang dapat menyusui, mengasuh dan mendidik anak-anaknya hingga dewasa. #KyaiPamungkas
